NWMO reached new collective agreement

December 21, 2016

The Nuclear Waste Management Organization Local reached a new tentative collective agreement through mediation on December 9, 2016. The four-year agreement features wage increases of 2%, 1.5%, 2% and 2.5% with a cost-of-living allowance triggered if the Ontario CPI exceeds the negotiated increase.

The deal also includes a pension contribution increase of 0.67% on each of July 1, 2017 and July 1, 2018, as well as the inclusion of occupational therapy in paramedical benefits.

Society-represented employees at NWMO are voting on ratification of this agreement until December 22. Members eligible to cast a ballot may do so by visiting the Members Only section of The Society web site.

The NWMO Local bargaining team was led by LVP Jose Freire-Canosa with the support of Labour Relations Staff Officer Joe Lesperance.
