Following Michelle Johnston’s election as Society President, there is a vacancy in the office of the Secretary-Treasurer that will be filled through an election.
The Society’s Chief Returning Officer issued the call for nominations for Secretary-Treasurer on May 17 and nominations will remain open until May 31. If there is a contested election, voting would take place online from July 2-16.
The union’s Secretary-Treasurer is responsible for the Society’s finances, including developing the annual budget, risk management, compliance, and property management. The Secretary-Treasurer also oversees and directs the organizing program, through which the Society encourages professionals in non-union workplaces to join the Society.
As this is the final year of the current term of office, the incoming Secretary-Treasurer will serve the balance of this term plus the next term, which expires in 2024.
