Laurie Reid Elected Secretary-Treasurer

Laurie Reid Elected Society Secretary-Treasurer

This July, Society members voted to elect Laurie Reid Secretary-Treasurer. The Principal Officer position was vacant due to the election of Michelle Johnston as President following the retirement of former president Scott Travers.

For the past five years Ms. Reid represented the members of the OEB as Local Vice President. In that role, Reid served on the Society’s Executive Board. Due to her experience in Society operations on the Executive Board and on both the Pride & Solidarity and Standing Finance Committees, her colleagues on Executive Board voted her to be one of their two representatives on Executive Committee, which oversees the union’s day-to-day operations.

During her tenure on Executive Committee, Reid worked with the Principal Officers on issues related to the union’s assets, budgeting and financial controls, as well as the growth of the union through organizing.

“This continues to be an exciting time for our union with political and financial challenges ahead. Working together we can make the Society stronger and build on our past for a successful tomorrow,” said Ms. Reid.

Reid received her Bachelor of Applied Science from Queen's University and is a Professional Engineer.
