SEP’s International union, the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, announced it will be a partner of the global March for Science planned in cities around the world on April 22.
The March for Science champions robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity. As a diverse, nonpartisan group, participants are calling for science that upholds the common good and for political leaders and policy makers to enact evidence based policies in the public interest.
The march has gathered significant momentum in response to United States President Donald Trump’s threat to cut funding for science and muzzle scientists producing work contrary to Trump’s ideology.
While a specific locations have yet to be announced, marches are planned in Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston, Sudbury, Hamilton and Kitchener-Waterloo. Find contact information by clicking on the location nearest you on this map.
