The Society’s Bruce Local is helping the Saugeen Shores community build its field of dreams. With a $50,000 contribution, the municipality took a big step forward in its fundraising campaign for the second phase of its Lamont Sports Field campaign.
“We are honoured to be able to contribute to such a valuable project in our community,” said Bruce Local Vice President Dave Ceksters. “Society members at Bruce Power don’t just work here, we live here, too. We want to make this the best community we can for the long-term.”
With the first phase almost complete, the second phase of the project will see two youth fields built, one for baseball and the other for softball. The initial phase saw four full-sized ball diamonds constructed, with water, electrical and septic infrastructure included. The park, which is built on the site of a former quarry, connects to the Saugeen Rail Trail.
The Society of United Professionals and its Bruce Local make donations to support the communities in which our members live and work from returns on the union’s investment in Bruce Power.
