The Society held a two-day Executive Board meeting at the Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon to open a new regional office to support the 450 new Society members at Local 222.
Local 222 Vice-President Greg Hippe offered greetings to the Board on behalf of his members, and Wanuskewin Heritage Park co-founder and chief archeologist introduced the park and the 6000-year-old history of the site. The land on which the park now sits was, at various points in history, an economic, social, spiritual and cultural hub. Archeologists have been uncovering bones, tools and other relics that paint a vibrant picture of the history of the site.

At the ribbon cutting, the Society Board was honoured to be joined by Saskatoon City Councillors Scott Ford and Senos Timon, MLA for Saskatoon Mewasin Nathaniel Teed, and Local past presidents David Hude and Roger Bradley. The new office with serve to support members of Local 222 and to act as a community hub.
With the new office, the Society has established a presence in Western Canada and we look forward to exploring new opportunities to offer professionals in new jurisdictions with the kinds of union benefits that our members enjoy.
The Society was also proud to host a member appreciation night for local members and their families at the Western Development Museum. More than 200 members were treated to bison burgers and a glimpse at life in Saskatoon in the early 20th century.
