Stop the repeal of Bill 148

Bill 148 made important updates to Ontario's labour laws and improved employment standards. Among the changes were improvements to sick and emergency leave days for all workers, increased holiday entitlement, mandated equal pay for casual and part-time workers doing the same job as full-time employees, improved scheduling protections and boosted protections for temporary agency workers. It also would increase the minimum wage to $15/hour.

These gains were hard-fought and will make a very real difference in the lives of working people in our province. A blanket repeal is a huge step backwards. It is clear that the Ford government is listening to the lobby big business instead of the working people of this province.

The Society is encouraging our members to contact your local MPP and let them know that you want to see the improvements enshrined in Bill 148 remain.

The Ontario Federation of Labour has a tool that can help you contact your local representative HERE.
