Solidarity with Striking TVO Workers

October 20, 2023

The Society has been demonstrating its solidarity with the TVO workers who have been on strike for more than eight weeks. The striking workers, represented by the Canadian Media Guild, have been fighting for job security and decent wages.

Society President Michelle Johnston spoke to a large crowd at a recent rally in front of the TVO headquarters in late August. The Society executive and many of our members have been attending the picket line in solidarity.

With the TVO headquarters being across the street from the Society central office, we have given the TVO picketers use of our basement to store strike materials and use our facilities. We are glad to be able to provide material assistance during this difficult time.

We were very grateful to see so many TVO/CMG members come out to the recent ESA Rally for a Fair Deal in front of the Ontario Energy Conference. This is what solidarity looks like.
