The Society was proud to sponsor Ontario Tech University’s Capstone Design Exhibition and Competition. President Michelle Johnston spoke at the event, and OPG Unit Director Leon Simeon was invited to participate as a judge.
The Annual event is an opportunity for 4th year Engineering students to demonstrate their ability to apply the knowledge they have gained throughout the entirety of their program. It is an eight-month effort to devise innovative solutions to real-world problems. At the end of the second semester, students showcase their research and discoveries at the annual Engineering Capstone Exhibition and Competition.
This year's Competition featured more than 80 projects ranging from identity recognition of vehicles, a spatial mapping robot, a power/speed boost system for an internal combustion engine, an automated steering system for autonomous vehicles, a simulation of an autonomous electric combat vehicle, and many more.
The Society is proud to partner with Ontario’s universities and colleges as they create the Society members of the future. Attending these events is an excellent chance to educate these students on the opportunities and benefits of being part of a union after they graduate into the world of work.
