Society President Speaks on Gender Equity Panel for IWD

March 6, 2026

On March 4, Society President Rebecca Caron spoke on an Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) panel for International Women’s Day. The panel titled: Beyond the Firsts: What Real Gender Equity Looking Like in the Electricity Sector focused on highlighting the experiences of women in the energy sector.

President Caron was joined by Joanna Osawe, President & CEO, Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE); Lenore Robson, VP People, Culture & Strategic Policy, Ontario Energy Board; and Michelle Branigan, CEO, EHRC. From frontline roles to leadership pathways, the panellists explored where women continue to face barriers, why progress stalls after entry and how workplace systems around safety, scheduling, advancement and accountability either support or undermine equity.

Members can watch the panel discussion until April 4 HERE.
