Society Organizes Labour Consultation with Sustainable Jobs Partnership Council

November 10, 2025

On Oct. 20, the Society participated in a consultation with the federal Sustainable Jobs Partnership Council, alongside nuclear sector union representatives at Darlington Energy Complex.

The Society took a leadership role in organizing the consultation, in collaboration with the Council's Secretariat and OPG. We were proud to bring together representatives from a dozen different unions to speak to the Council about workforce challenges and opportunities in key sectors of the net-zero transition. The Council is seeking input on how Canada can position itself to address workforce needs as new nuclear projects materialize, and how nuclear power can contribute to the net-zero transition and the build-out of major national projects.

This consultation will inform the Council's advisory report to ministers, which is expected to be released in mid-November.

Thank you to Society members Joy Gurney, Leon Simeon, Jeff Wilson, Steve Kasbaum, Robb Will and staff member Mike Belmore for participating in the consultation.
