On behalf of all our members, the Society is sending it thoughts, prayers and solidarity to the family and colleagues of the PWU-represented Toronto Hydro worker who was killed on the job on March 28.
The Society, with our colleagues at the Power Workers’ Union, are keeping a close eye on the investigation currently being conducted by the Ministry of Labour into how such an accident could have occurred and how we can ensure that all Toronto Hydro employees are kept safe at work.
This is an important reminder that workplace safety requires constant vigilance. Every worker has the right to refuse unsafe work and has a duty to report any safety concerns in their workplace.
As we grieve, let’s make sure that we remain focused on the highest standards of safety in our workplaces.
