Society marked Lunar New Year

February 13, 2019

The Society wishes all members who celebrated the Lunar New Year on February 5 good fortune, joy and prosperity.

To mark the occasion, the Society attended the Toronto and York Region Labour Council’s Chinese Workers’ Network banquet. Among the union's attendees were President Scott Travers and Pensioners Chapter Secretary Hubert Yan (pictured together at right).

The Chinese Workers' Network was founded in 2012 by members of various GTA unions to take action on a number of issues of shared concern, including advocating for betting living and working conditions, supporting Chinese workers interested in joining a union, and supporting Chinese union members interested in seeking leadership positions within the broader labour movement.
