Society Attends first Bruce Power site development Advisory Panel meeting

February 13, 2024

Following the Ontario Minister of Energy’s July 2023 announcement that the Bruce Power site would be selected for a new build evaluation, Society President Michelle Johnston joined Bruce Power, labour, industry, business and First Nations representatives for early engagement and pre-planning work for a Bruce C Impact Assessment.

This is a crucial undertaking for the Bruce site and that will see expanded operation to 2064 and beyond. The Society’s involvement will ensure that our members’ interests are represented, and that the expertise of Society members is heard.

The Advisory Panel will be responsible for providing input on three key areas: economic development and partnerships, supply chain, and workforce.

The Society joins representatives from the Power Workers’ Union, the Ontario Building Trades, the First Nations Power Authority, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Toronto Region Board of Trade, the IESO, the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries, the Nuclear Innovation Institute, and Asthma Canada.
