Kiran Farhan has been a member of the Society of United Professionals for three years and was recently elected as Unit Director for the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) Local. As a Project Engineer/Officer, she works across multiple teams, giving her the opportunity to connect with colleagues throughout the organization and strengthen relationships within the membership.
Kiran's involvement with the Society began as a delegate, where she took every opportunity to learn more about the union by participating in Local Committee discussions, attending Council and supporting fellow members during bargaining activities. She says the Society's welcoming and inclusive culture has made it easy to get involved and has reinforced the importance of ensuring every member has a voice.
Kiran encourages members to step outside their comfort zone and get involved in whatever way they can. She believes even small steps can lead to meaningful connections, new experiences and the chance to make a positive impact within the Society.
