Government Announces Investment in OPG Facilities

May 27, 2024

The government of Ontario announced that it will be spending $1 billion to refurbish 25 units at the Sir Adam Beck Complex beginning in 2025. The refurbishment is intended to extend the life of the generating station by 30 years.

Also announced was a $600 million investment in the R.H. Saunders Generating Station in Cornwall, the second largest hydroelectric station in Ontario. The investment will secure 1,045 megawatts of clean electricity.

The Society welcomes the announcements as it will not only protect existing Society member jobs, but will continue Ontario’s leadership in clean, low-emission electricity production into the future.
