Empowerment 2023 Inspires

December 12, 2023

Every year, the Society’s Delegates Council weekend kicks off with Empowerment Day, and this year’s empowerment day was the best attended yet.

Empowerment is an opportunity for the Society’s many equity committees to showcase the work of the committees with presentations and interesting speakers on important matters to their committee’s mandates.

The Society’s Indigenous Relations Circle hosted a presentation by Bob Goulais, who spoke and taught on a wide variety of subjects important to Indigenous peoples.

The Young Professionals Network presented on workplace safety and bargaining-related issues.

United Sisters presented on gender-based workplace harassment and violence.

Finally, the Coalition of Racialized Professionals had Dr. Toni De Mello present on the complicated dynamics of race, gender and sexuality and our unconscious biases.
