Across the world, March 8 is the day on which we celebrate the achievements of and remind ourselves of the work still ahead in the struggle for women’s equality. International Women’s Day events are held in many communities across Ontario. Below are IWD events The Society is aware of (note that the events are held on March 7).

- The main International Women’s Day march and fair in Toronto is Saturday, March 7, 11AM-2PM, beginning at the OISE Auditorium, 252 Bloor St. W. More information: iwdtoronto.ca.
- Annual Mary Spratt Breakfast, Saturday, March 7, 9-10:30AM, Steelworkers Hall, 25 Cecil St., Toronto. Tickets are $10, purchased at the door. Proceeds to local women’s services.
- Women in Nuclear (Golden Horseshoe branch), High Tea, March 8, 12:30-3:30pm, Victoria Garden Tea Room, 313 Burnhamthorpe Rd., Etobicoke. Cost is $28.95 each for high tea, including warm, freshly baked scones, cream, fruit jam, and an assortment of finger sandwiches and desserts. An opportunity for social gathering and professional networking.
