16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign

November 24, 2022

Tomorrow is the first of the annual 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence.

Led by Sisters United, our union’s women’s committee, over the coming days the Society of United Professionals will be sharing curated information, opportunities to take action, and links to local organizations that need your financial support to aid people experiencing gender-based violence.

The 16 Days of Activism begins on November 25, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It runs until December 10, which is marked globally as Human Rights Day. These days coincide with Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, which is marked each December 6th in commemoration of the 1989 mass shooting at Montreal’s École Polytechnique that targeted female students.

You can continue to keep up with the Society’s contributions to the 16 Days of Activism on thesociety.ca, as well as on our Facebook and Twitter feeds, where we invite you to continue the conversation on how we can all contribute to ending gender-based violence.

In solidarity,

Rebecca Caron
Chair, Sisters United
