Inaugural Czuczman scholarships commemorates former Chief Returning Officer

November 1, 2021

In memory of long-time Society chief returning officer and delegate Paul Czuczman, the union’s Executive Board established two annual $500 scholarships in his name at the Saugeen District Senior School (SDSS).

Czuczman volunteered his time at the school to talk with the students about STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects and the importance of giving back to community. He passed away on November 30, 2019 at the age of 58.

The award criteria seeks to recognize a balance of academic achievement and achievement in either athletics or community service – students who demonstrate service above self and an uplifting spirit, two of Paul's most memorable attributes. To qualify for the scholarship, a student must be registered to attend an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution in a STEM field following graduation. The winners were selected by the SDSS Commencement Committee.

Congratulations to the inaugural recipients: Natalia Perico-Villamil and Logan Lemcke.
