For your local to change from members paying a flat dues based model to one where each member pays the equivalent of 1% of their salary, the local must:
- Request Executive Board’s approval to hold a referendum under Article 21.2; and
- The members of your local must vote in favour of this change in a referendum
A referendum under Article 21.2 would be held in accordance with Society and Local constitution, by-laws, policies and procedures.
Assuming the proposed amendment is adopted by members at the close of voting at 1:00pm on April 15, 2019, a local could request approval to hold a referendum under Article 21.2 as soon as the results of the constitutional referendum are announced.
