Hydro One Management Refuses to Table Offer

TORONTO, April 27 /CNW/ - Hydro One Management has told the Society of Energy Professionals ("the Society") that it will not at this time table settlement proposals in response to the comprehensive offer made by the Society late yesterday afternoon.

The Society bargaining team tabled an offer with the Employer at 5:15 p.m. yesterday and was prepared to bargain through the night to reach a mutually acceptable contract. At 6:30 p.m., Hydro One representative Steve Strome called Society Local VP Keith Rattai and said that Tom Parkinson, President and CEO of Hydro One, was unavailable all evening and would respond to the Society's offer this morning.

Today the Society was told at 9:20 a.m. that the Employer was unwilling to table a counter-offer at this time and invited the Society bargaining team to meet on Monday, May 2nd to view a presentation on Hydro One's finances.

"Hydro One has basically refused to respond to our comprehensive settlement proposals with an offer of their own" said Mr. Rattai. "They want to show us a presentation on Hydro One's finances. Now is the time for making concrete proposals to resolve this dispute. Any further delay is completely unacceptable to the Society".

The Society has written Hydro One to request that it make its energy professional employees a fair and reasonable settlement offer today.

The Society of Energy Professionals represents more than 6,000 professional employees in the electricity industry in Ontario, including telecommunications and information technology professionals, professional engineers, scientists, supervisors and others.
